The Leo Rover is a versatile, all-terrain mobile robot that excels in various outdoor and rough terrain applications. It is designed to be robust and durable, making it suitable for research, education, and commercial use in environments that are challenging for ordinary robots. Key strengths of the Leo Rover include:
- Customizability: It comes with a modular design allowing users to add different sensors, cameras, and other hardware according to their specific needs.
- Open-source software: This feature encourages a community-driven approach to development, making it easier to program and adapt by users at all skill levels.
- Remote operation: The Leo Rover can be controlled remotely, making it suitable for tasks in hazardous or inaccessible locations.
- Powerful mobility: Equipped with strong motors and large wheels, it can navigate over obstacles and uneven terrains, which is ideal for outdoor experiments or data collection.
Common uses for the Leo Rover include environmental monitoring, agricultural automation, educational projects, and even as a platform for testing and developing robotic technologies. Its ability to be customized and controlled remotely makes it a valuable tool for a wide range of practical applications in real-world settings.
Saab Dynamics has multiple Leo Rovers with slightly different properties though the common use has involved SLAM, collaboration and SWORM technology. One of the rovers has been lent out to Combitech for integration in the WARA-PS Core System as a level 1 agent.
